Egyptian Death Beliefs


Especially as Samhain approaches and we are all steeped in the upcoming Halloween paraphenalia, I thought you might enjoy a brief post that touches on some of the death mythology of ancient Egypt. I’ve always had a great fascination for Egyptian mythology and given that I’m currently working on Desert Alchemy, my Great Egyptian Steampunk book 1, I’ve been thinking about it a lot. Remember this is a light dusting of information. Ancient Egyptian mythology is very complex and many, many gods exist.

Friday Flash – The Lord of the Crows

The earth clothes itself in the brilliant icy breath of the coming winter and breezes wash through the lands, carrying the sharp, bright scent of snow to all who dare to be outside this night. A blanket of thick fog fills the valleys as if preparing them for the coming months of snow and slumber.

Through the Veil

The full moon crested the tops of the tall trees bordering the clearing and cast a crescent of light onto the ground. Despite the fire burning before her, the deep chill of fall lay on her bare skin like a blanket, heavy and thick with the threat of winter’s approach. The large flat stone that served as her altar sat next to the fire, her ritual tools neatly arranged upon it.
